Dealin’ with the Dead…

ABOUT THE BOOK

“Dealin’ with the Dead…” (my second novel) bullied its way into the number two spot through sheer aggression. I was well into the writing of “MirrorMan”-about a hundred pages-when I finally gave-in to the constant niggling of Monticello Turquoise and crew. The idea of an ultra-smart career criminalwith a library card (and waaaay too much loyalty for his own good) that preferred brains over brawn was-in essence-a story I had to see how it ended now! This was also the first story I was gonna expand into a series (there are three additional books that follow “Dealin’…”). Watching Monty evolve from a pool-shark/low level con man into a top-tier bank robber was just plain fun. The darker aspects of the story that begins after the heist that landed him in prison (supplied by the limitless money of a supremely pissed off Crystal Silhouette-twin to the man killed in the robbery-and the more then touched in the head narcissistic fixer Chaka de la Moore) and eventually the electric chair (Yep, there’s a LOT more story after that) comes from my reading of more than my share of Dean Koontz/F. Paul Wilson novels. “Dealin’ with the Dead…” is also the first of my novels I planned to adapt into an episodic TV series…
